“I made a pledge to my mother when she passed away to make sure she would be remembered in the way that she deserved.” - Lisa Simone

“A deep velvet voice, lush and powerful, just like her mother…”

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life…You’ll be feeling good when you seize this historic opportunity to savour the songs of Nina Simone, channelled in the same rich, powerful tones through her talented daughter, Lisa Simone.

For the first time ever, this award-winning actress and Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist will soon embark on a national Australian tour to honour her mother’s legacy.

Nina Simone stunned the world with her deep, velvet voice and soulful songs, earning her reputation as one of the greatest singers of our time.  We are thrilled to welcome her daughter to Australia in March to enthral and enchant you with an intimate, heart-warming concert of her mother’s music.

Lisa will put a spell on you with feel-good Simone classics like:

My Baby Just Cares for Me

Feeling Good

Black Is the Colour

I’m Gonna Leave You

Love Me or Leave Me

And many more…

Lisa Simone’s lush voice will be accompanied by the soulful swing of an All-Star Big Band, featuring some of the best jazz musicians in the country.

With a glittering show business career of her own, Lisa Simone premiered the Disney roles of Aida (Aida) and Nala (The Lion King), won the National Broadway Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her leading role in Aida and headed its first national tour. A member of the original Broadway cast of Rent, she was nominated for the Helen Hayes Award and Jefferson Award for her work in the touring production of the musical.

Lisa has performed alongside some of the greatest female vocalists of our time, including Dianne Reeves, Angelique Kidjo, Odetta and Tracy Chapman at Carnegie Hall. She has headlined at New York’s Lincoln Center and Town Hall and performed at international jazz festivals including Telluride, Montreaux, North Sea, Marciac, and Paris.

In 2008 she topped the jazz charts with Simone on Simone, her big band tribute album to her mother. She was nominated for a Grammy Award as a member of acid jazz group, Liquid Soul, and co-produced the 2016 Oscar-nominated Netflix documentary about her mother’s life, What Happened, Miss Simone?

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to enjoy the classic repertoire of Nina Simone, performed by her very own daughter, with an All-Star Big Band.
