Fri 20 October @ Brisbane Powerhouse

ABOUT THE SHOW

In a must-see performance for fans of West African highlife and Afrobeat, living legend and grandfather of the genre Ebo Taylor will bring his inimitable, infectiously upbeat sound to Brisbane International Jazz Festival.

The 87-year old Ghanaian guitarist, composer and producer is an enduring icon who has firmly placed West African music on the world map. The influence of highlife in shaping Africa’s music history cannot be overemphasized; it is an exquisite cocktail of indigenous dance rhythms and jazz accompanied with the melodies from African drums, accordions, harmonicas and guitars.

Ebo and his son Henry Taylor will tour Australia for the first time, joined by Melbourne six-piece The Afrobiotics.

Taylor will share with audiences a taste of the energetic, jazz and funk-tinged magic that has fuelled his prolific, 60-plus-year career.
