Art As Catharsis has teamed up with Brisbane International Jazz Festival to present an evening of eclectic, forward thinking improvised music.

Big Dead’s music evokes that sombre, heavy-lidded romantic postlude-mementos more sedated slow burn than agitated recollection. At the heart of Big Dead is a take-no-prisoners musical ambition, eager to hurl the listener from chaos through to catharsis

TYDE brandishes a rich soundscape that ebbs and flows between prog-rock, funk, and folk. The Brisbane 6-piece have a truly genre-fluid sound, combining percussive finger-style guitar riffs, funky bass and horn lines that'll stick in your head for days, and heavy guitar shredding for your head-banging pleasure. Paired with the soulful voice of front-woman Ella Belfanti, TYDE will have you both grooving to infectious hooks and trying to work out what time signature you're dancing to.

innsæi is a Brisbane based jazz trio featuring Will Ellerton (keys), Jono Fraser (bass) and Joh Kotoda (Drums). Creating a unique blend of jazz, fusion, and metal, the trio aims to push boundaries rhythmically and harmonically, exploring the unconventional and representing the next evolution of jazz.
