Bill Frisell Trio
Thursday, October 23 | Brisbane Powerhouse

Renowned jazz guitarist Bill Frisell returns to Brisbane for the 2025 Brisbane International Jazz Festival. A multi-Grammy winner and trailblazer in modern American music, Frisell's distinctive style blends jazz, bluegrass, country, rock, folk, and avant-garde, capturing the essence of American musical tradition.

Over a 40-year career, Frisell has released 45 albums and earned 12 Best Guitarist titles in the DownBeat Critics Poll. He has collaborated with jazz icons like John Scofield, Chick Corea, and Charlie Haden, as well as luminaries such as Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, and Sting.

Joining Frisell are bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston, forming the Bill Frisell Trio. They will perform selections from their critically acclaimed album Valentine, hailed by DownBeat as a “modern masterpiece” of jazz.

“Even though the selections on Valentine hail from a range of styles, the performances represent jazz playing at its most sublime.” – ★★★★★ DownBeat

Recognized as an inaugural Doris Duke Artist and one of America’s most vital musicians, Frisell’s influence continues to shape contemporary music. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness a living legend and his exceptional trio in an unforgettable live performance.

The Brisbane International Jazz Festival acknowledges the Turrbal and Jagera people as the Traditional Custodians of Meanjin, on which we have the privilege to make music. We recognise their long history of music making and continuing connection, to the land and waters.
